Classroom Incentive Plans
Incentives can motivate students, but sometimes have the opposite effect. The purpose of classroom incentives is to encourage students to develop positive, appropriate behaviors and habits in the classroom. As teachers, we must encourage students to become independent learners. However, students are people who must overcome their personal faults and struggles. Classroom incentives can help students feel recognized despite those struggles and faults, and can help them feel encouraged that they are on the right path. Incentives should not be the only source of motivation among students, but should instead inspire them to keep trying, keep learning, and keep growing.
